Science Journalists’ Network Workshop: Contemporary Issues in Science Journalism

July 23, 2016 @ 2:40 pm - 3:40 pm

The Science Journalists’ Network, coordinated by project partner EUSJA, will host a workshop exploring RRI in the context of modern journalism at the 3rd European Conference of Science Journalists. Journalists are seen as a bridge to involve society by reporting about science. But is it their responsibility to be watchdogs over RRI? And how do they make ends meet while still struggling with challenges of lower salaries and less time to be critical?

In this interactive workshop, “Is science journalism dying? First aid to the patient”, science journalists and science communication officers alike will discuss professional dilemmas and develop tools and guidelines for how to commit to RRI. More details and registration are available online.

Session organised and presented by:
Berit Viuf and Gorm Palmgren, freelance journalists

Panel
Jean-Pierre Alix – Board member of Euroscience
Elisabetta Curzel – Freelance journalist, television and writing
Deborah Cohen – Editor BBC Radio Science Unit
