SUMMARY:NUCLEUS Field Trip: RRI in Higher Education and Research Institutions Governance
DESCRIPTION:Since 2008\, Edinburgh\, Scotland\, has been a living lab for RRI culture change. The Beltane Public Engagement Network\, supported by four of the city’s universities\, delivers training\, support\, and partnerships to improve the quality and quantity of researchers’ public engagement. Fourteen NUCLEUS partners visited the city to learn about innovative models for embedding RRI in the governance and structure of universities and research institutions. \nThe Field Trip participants met with key staff and researchers to discuss how strategies to address barriers to RRI had performed\, and which steps might be taken next. Although UK-wide initiatives were increasing political pressure for RRI\, the interviews revealed that limited resources and structures for time\, money and career progression had not yet caught up. \nThe Field Trip report is available online\, with more information about the reflections and recommendations for the RRI Roadmap. \n
