DESCRIPTION:Partnerships between policymaking and research might seem like an obvious alliance; both endeavours aim to understand and shape the world and society we live in. However\, collaborations can reveal challenging differences in timelines\, measurements of accountability\, and values. The RRI & Public Policy Field Trip to Nottingham\, UK\, explored successful approaches to this balancing act\, as well as the points of friction between policymaking organisations and researchers. \nKey themes arising from the interviews were the value of dedicated relationship managers to mediate the sometimes contrasting cultures\, as well as the challenge of integrating policy-oriented research within academic career progression. \nFor further background context and findings\, including reflections and recommendations for the RRI Roadmap\, see the full Field Trip report online. \n
