SUMMARY:Evening Reception: Opening Science to Society
DESCRIPTION:SiS.net\, together with the Swedish National Advocacy Platform for Science with and for society\, is organising an evening reception entitled Opening Science to Society to discuss the future of the SwafS programme towards the next framework programme. \nIt is targeted at policy makers and stakeholders of SwafS and the goal is to provide input on the development of the SwafS-programme and the way forward towards the next framework programme\, beyond Horizon 2020. Discussions will focus on the role of the current programme and Responsible Research and Innovation initiative\, as well as the Open Science policy initiative. The event will also showcase on-going projects within: Citizen Science\, Public Engagement\, Science Education\, RRI and Gender and will provide networking opportunities among SwafS stakeholders\, national contact points\, national representatives and members of the European Parliament. \nPurpose of the event: \n\nTo allow policy-makers and other stakeholders (at European and national level) to interact with the vast amount of new work developed by the SwafS programme in the last years.\nTo raise awareness and highlight the importance of supporting RRI as the means to bring science closer to the European people and to stimulate the public and different stakeholders to become producers and co-creators of ideas and services\, thus better aligning research and innovation to the values\, needs and expectations of society.\nTo make a collective reflection and stimulate thinking on the challenges ahead for SwafS programme to be able to tackle the Open Science needs and developments\, especially beyond Horizon 2020.\nTo offer networking opportunities among SwafS stakeholders and policy-makers\, with the aim of allowing a better connection between the policy and research world.\n\n
